With the winter chill keeping you indoors, and the lack of bills in your wallet, it’s getting harder and harder to get out to go on a date.
It can definitely get expensive to go out for dinner, to the movies, or play a round of mini golf – I get it. With bills to pay and a savings to build, it makes it hard to get some special one on one time with your special person.
But! You can still get that special time right at home. I know it may not seem so special, but I’ve gathered some fun things to do at home to still spend that quality time with your one and only.

1. Movie Marathon
Pick your favorite movie series, grab some popcorn and binge! Some of my favorites include Harry Potter, Fast & Furious and Die Hard.
2. Games Triathlon
For us this tends to be a drinking game, where with each loss the loser takes a shot, BUT you don’t have to make it one. Pick a selection of games (Wii Sports, Beer Pong, Cards, etc.) and challenge each other!
3. Picnic Living Room Lunch
Push that coffee table out of the way and set up a picnic indoors! I know the cold can make it hard to head outside, so bring that cute lunch inside! Try a fun snack like these soft pretzels, or a tummy treat like these mini banana cream pies!
4. Nerf Gun War
Grab some nerf guns and start a brawl!
5. Fake Restaurant
Dress your fancy best, set the table all nice and cook a special meal (plated nicely of course!). Dim the lights, add some light music and it’ll seem almost like the real thing, without the cost or leaving the house!
6. Living Room Fort
Grab every blanket and pillow in the house and go crazy! Can never go wrong with some cute twinkly lights either!
7. Mini Sticks Competition
If you’re a hockey fan, this one’s great to do during intermissions and commercials while you’re watching your favorite team play!
8. Do A Project
Been wanting a new key rack for your entryway? Have a Lego castle to build? Planning a renovation for the future? Work together to create something!
9. Board Games
Board games are always a classic in our house. This ultimate list of board games is sure to give you some ideas!
10. Video Games
Mario Kart anyone? I love the little rivalry that can grow from some simple gaming (and you can also make it into a drinking game if that’s your style).
11. Clean The House
I know this one seems pretty lame, but if you blast some music & get your dance moves on, it’s sure to be a fun time spent with your lover, plus you’re getting stuff organized and clutter-free that should be anyways! Teamwork!
12. Take Buzzfeed Quizzes
Lounging around in bed all day gives you the perfect excuse to find your true spirit animal, or which Friends character you really are – for sure to give you both a good laugh.
Spending time with your special person is so so important, and I totally get wanting to save a little dough. These ideas are super simple, yet if you put your mind to it you can get creative, and really have some fun if you let yourself.
