7 Fun Things To Do In Alberta This Summer

The summer is the best time to go out and enjoy some outdoor events being held. It seems like a mini vacation when you get to ride some rides, or try some interesting food.

All without having to break the bank flying somewhere!

I’ve rounded up some super fun events in my home province Alberta that occur this summer that you can take your date, your family, or heck, go by yourself if you really wanna! No judgement here.

7 Fun Things To Do This Summer

1. The Calgary Stampede

Hands down my number one. I don’t even live in Calgary anymore but I put in the effort to make my way down south every year to attend the Calgary Stampede.

An awesome carnival mixed with a rodeo – you’ve got shows, food, rides, music; it’s basically Disneyland in Alberta (minus the Disney stuff).

Where: Calgary, AB
When: July 8th -17th 2016

2. Taste of Edmonton

If you like food, you’ve got to check out Taste of Edmonton

A bunch of food trucks come out, and you’ve got the biggest variety of foods to choose from.

You buy food tickets, and each item costs a certain amount of tickets.

Onion cakes, to ribs, to fresh squeezed lemonade, man is it every yummy.

Where: Edmonton, AB
When: July 21st – 30th 2016

3. K-Days

Pretty close to the Calgary Stampede, just minus all the rodeo stuff. There’s rides, concerts, food and tons of vendors. K-Days is the carnival of all carnivals.

Where: Edmonton, Alberta
When: July 22nd-31st 2016

4. Big Valley Jamboree

Country music, camping & one big party – that’s BVJ for ya.

It’s a country music festival over August Long Weekend with spots to camp out, concessions, and probably some (lots) of drinking.

If you want to camp, you’re gonna want to check out my Ultimate Camping Checklist so you don’t forget anything! Day passes are available as well if you don’t want to camp!

Where: Camrose, Alberta
When: July 28th – 31st 2016

5. Mud Hero

A 6 kilometre race filled with tons of obstacles, and of course, MUD. Grab some friends, make a team and get your butt kicked in Mud Hero. Tickets are almost sold out, so get on it!

Where: Red Deer. Alberta
When: August 5th, 6th, 7th 2016

AND
Where: Calgary, Alberta

Alberta Events To Attend
This is the Fringe festival in Edinburgh, Scotland, which is obviously much bigger. But the same sort of jist here.

7. Sonic Boom

If you’re a big music person, Sonic Boom is where you’ll want to be. It’s a music festival including tons of different bands such as Twenty One Pilots, The Lumineers, and so many more great artists.
