With back to school season right upon us (I’m starting university September 7th!), it’s time to start brainstorming some lunch ideas.
Let’s be honest, when you’re in college it’s so tempting to stop by the Starbucks on campus every day and pick up a sandwich and a frappucino. But that adds up sooo quickly (in your bank account, and the scale).
I’ve been packing a lunch for work every day this summer, so I already feel in the groove, but I’m ready to get a little more healthy and organized in packing my lunch for school.
Here are a few lunch ideas I love to throw together that are easy, healthy and quick!
Back To School Lunch Ideas | College Students
Turkey Wrap, Yogurt Parfait and Rice Cakes
I love me some turkey wraps. I add some mayo, turkey, cheddar cheese, lettuce & tomato all wrapped up in a whole wheat tortilla.
Put some raspberries and blueberries in a container together, have another container of vanilla yogurt, one more for granola, and when you are ready to eat you can mix em all together for a yummy parfait!
I love slathering some raspberry jam onto two rice cakes, putting them together and sealing them in a ziploc. The jam adds some more flavour to the rice cakes without making it unhealthy!
Pasta, Apple Sauce and Peaches
Whether you have a microwave or not, this pasta is yummy cold or hot (Hehe, that rhymed). I mix up the olive oil sauce from this pasta recipe in one container, put some plain shell or bowtie pasta in another container, cherry tomatoes sliced in half in another and when I’m ready to eat I’ll mix them all up!
I always buy those kids cups of apple sauce for my lunches. Apple sauce is actually so yummy! I always make sure to put an ice pack beside it though because warm apple sauce is not my jam.
Peaches and nectarines are a great fruit choice to throw in your lunch to mix things up. I eat mine whole, but cutting them up could also be super yummy!
Meat, Cheese & Crackers, Apples and Popcorn
Slice up some of your favourite sausage (I loooove jalapeno cheese sausage), cut up some cheese and throw some crackers in there, and you’ve got yourself a homemade lunchable. If you’re feeling really crazy, slice up some pickles and you’re having a hayday.
Add some sliced up apples and some plain popcorn and you’re good to go!
Cucumber & Cream Cheese Wrap, Grapes and Banana Oat Cookies
One of my favourite wraps to make is so so simple. Grab a tortilla, spread some cream cheese, slice up some cucumbers and add them in. Sprinkle a little salt and pepper and wrap it up! A fairly small wrap, so most of the time I will make two.
A handful of grapes for a nice healthy side, and some of my banana oat cookies to feed that sweets craving!
These are just a few of my favourites! I’m not super creative with my lunches, I don’t eat a whole lot and I enjoy a lot of the same things most days lol. What do you enjoy having for lunch while you’re at work or school!? I’d love to know some other lunch ideas I can mix in!
